How to set up a microphone in Discord Online?

The Discord service was originally created as a tool for gamers to communicate. Due to its wide functionality and high quality of communication, it has become one of the main competitors of Skype, RaidCall and TeamSpeak. Moreover, voice communication is available even in the browser version of the service. The only thing before you start talking, you need to set up the microphone.

Step by step setup instructions

Before proceeding with the setup, you must connect a microphone or headset to your computer. After that, follow these steps:

  1. Follow the link to the Discord Online authorization page.
  2. Enter your email address or phone number in the top field, and your account password in the bottom field. Then click on the button Entrance and wait for the main screen of the service to load.
  3. Initially, the microphone in the chat will be disabled. To turn it on, click on the red crossed-out microphone icon, which is located in the lower left corner next to the nickname.
  4. In a pop-up window, the browser will ask you to allow access to the microphone. Click the button Allow. After completing these steps, the microphone icon should become active, which means that the microphone is working.
  5. Click on the gear icon next to the microphone icon.
  6. In the field on the left, find the section Application settings and click on the subsection Voice and video.
  7. On the settings page, you can change the volume and sensitivity of the microphone by moving the corresponding sliders to the left or right.
  8. To check how the microphone works, click on the button Let’s check and say something. After a few seconds, you will hear how your phrase sounds. If the sound is not loud enough, turn up the volume and sensitivity of the microphone, and increase the volume of the speakers themselves. If the sound is dirty, reduce the microphone sensitivity and check again how it works.

After successfully setting up the microphone, press the key Esc or click on the cross in the upper right corner.
