How to change the voice on Discord for PC

Clownfish (Windows)
Clownfish it is definitely one of the best voice editing solutions available on PC. The program is only compatible with Windows systems and offers a large amount of effects for free, with enormous ease of use. Plus, in addition to Discord, it works on any platform that captures sound from the microphone.
First, therefore, you need to install Clownfish. To do this, head to the official website of the software and press on the item DOWNLOAD located at the top right. At this point, select the version suitable for your operating system (32-bit or 64-bit) and click on it to start the download.
When the download is done, open the .exe file just downloaded. In the window that opens, click on the button Next three times, then go on Install, Next And Finishto conclude the setup.
You are now ready to open Clownfish. By doing this, you will notice that no window will appear on the PC screen. To view the Clownfish management panel you have to click on dart located near the system clock (typically at the bottom right), select the icon Clownfish right click and select the item Set Voice Changer from the menu that is proposed to you.
From the window you just opened, you can see all the types of effects available. First of all, though, you need to turn on Clownfish. In fact, once the software is started, you can “turn it on” or “turn it off” as you wish without closing the program completely. When Clownfish is “off”, the vocal distortion effects will not work.
To “turn on” and “turn off” Clownfish you can click on its icon in the notification area (that is, always the one placed near the system clock): if this is colored, it means that the application is “on”; if it is black and white, it means that it is “off”.
At this point, you are ready to select the effect you want and each of it will work on Discord as soon as it is activated. You can check for yourself by listening to the modified voice. To do this, right-click on the icon of Clownfish in the notification area and select the item Listen to the microphone from the menu that is proposed to you. Once this is done, you should be able to hear your voice from the main audio playback device.
Let’s move on to the application interface, which is mainly divided into three blocks, each of which offers different functionalities.
In first blocknamed Voice changer, you can find all the basic effects that Clownfish offers. To select one, simply click on its icon and you will immediately feel the difference. To layer more than one effect at a time, press the button Effect mixer and then on the icon -> located to the right of the icon just mentioned. From the menu that appears, then select the effects you want to use and, once done, click on the option Effect mixerto implement the changes just made.
Also, in the same block, there is the possibility to change the pitch of the voice. To do this, press the button Custom pitch and then move theindicator left or right, depending on how you want to change the entry. For a lower pitch, move the indicator to the left. If, on the other hand, you want a higher pitch, move it to the right.
The second blockon the other hand, is dedicated to Vocoder, which is a different type of effect from the previous ones, which changes the voice drastically. To activate it, click onwave icon and then select a effect to your liking from the drop-down menu on the right.
Finally, the third blocktitled Sound effects, offers much lighter vocal effects than previous ones. The four effects present in this box, in fact, are limited to modifying the reverb and echo of the voice. To select one, simply click on one of the icons present. Easy, right?
To make sure Discord is using the right microphone, i.e. the system default microphone to which Clownfish changes are automatically applied, open Discord and click ongear icon located at the bottom left. In the settings window that opens, click the button Voice and video and, under the heading Input devicemake sure the option for the microphone you are using is selected.
Voxal Voice Changer (Windows / macOS)
Another option to consider is definitely Voxal Voice Changer. This program, available on both Windows and macOS, offers nearly 50 different effects, thus giving you a wide choice of use. The software is free, but only for private or non-commercial use. The cost of the Voxal Voice Changer license, to be able to use it freely, is $ 14.99 one-time feeor $ 1.11 per month.
First, you need to download Voxal Voice Changer via the software’s official website. To do this, head over to it and click on the button download.
Once the download is done, if you use Windowsopen the .exe file that you just downloaded. At this point a window opens, in which you have to select the option Download and install in Italian. For example, you can see how much latency there is in the reproduction of your voice, the resonance, the main frequencies reproduced by the effect and much more. Therefore, adjust everything as you prefer and have fun on Discord (or any other application that uses the microphone)!
The software will work on Discord as soon as you activate the effect you have chosen, as long as you have selected the default device for use as a microphone on Discord. To do this, open Discord and click onwheel icon located at the bottom left, to open the settings. At this point, press the button Voice and video and, under the heading Input devicepress the box and select the option Default.
