Don’t worry, if you want, I’m here to give you a hand: below, in fact, I will show you in detail how to change the voice both during a call / video call and during a game, using a series of programs and apps that are easy to use and really suitable for everyone. How to change the voice on Meet
If you are interested in applying effects to the video conferences that you usually hold on Meet , then this is the section of the tutorial that is right for you: in fact, below I am going to show you some free solutions that you can use for the purpose.
From PC
One of the best computer programs of this type is certainly Voxal Voice Changer , which can be used for free for private / non-commercial purposes and allows you to alter your voice by applying about 50 different effects to it.
If, on the other hand, it is necessary to use Voxal for commercial purposes or for purposes other than “home” use, a regular license for use must be purchased; at the time of writing this guide, it costs $ 1.11 / month or $ 14.99 in one-time payment .
To get the program, go to its official website, click the Download Now button and wait for the Voxal Voice Changer installation file to be downloaded to your computer. Once the download is complete, open the file obtained and follow the instructions best suited to the operating system you are using.
If you use Windows , click on the Yes and Download and install buttons in Italian , check the box next to the item I accept the license conditions and press the Next button to start the installation of the program, which should be completed within a few seconds. At the end of the process, Voxal Voice Changer should open automatically; if not, you can start the program using the icon which, in the meantime, has been added to the Start menu.
If you are using a Mac , press the Open (if necessary) and Agree buttons , wait for the transfer window to appear and, using it, drag the program icon to the Applications folder on your computer. Finally, open the software using the newly created icon, or using the Launchpad .
From this moment on, the procedures are the same on both operating systems (except for the program language which, on Mac, is in English): the Voxal Voice Changer window is divided into two main sections, one dedicated to the selection effects (left) and one containing details about the applied filter (right).
To test a distortion, click on its name , then on the Preview / Preview button and speak into the microphone , so as to hear your distorted voice again; if necessary, authorize Voxal to use the microphone by clicking on the button that appears on the screen. To exit the “test” mode, click the Preview / Preview button again .
At this point the game is done: to alter the voice, click on the name of the chosen effect and leave the Voxal Voice Changer window open , so that the effect remains active. Finally, start a video conference on Meet (or you participated in), click on the button (⋮) located at the bottom and choose the Settings item from the menu that appears. Finally, click on the Audio tab and make sure that the Microphone drop-down menu is set to Default – Microphone [name of your microphone] , otherwise you do it.
To make sure that Voxal Voice Changer is actually changing your voice, call up the main program window and make sure the voices are present at the bottom An application is using the microphone and Voxal is successfully applying the [name] effect to the audio stream , or An application is using the Voxal Virtual Device and Voxal is successfully applying the [effect name] voice effect to the audio stream . You can return to your natural voice at any time by simply closing the program.
From smartphones and tablets
Would you need to change the voice on Meet from a smartphone or tablet ? In this case, I think I have no good news to tell you: at the moment, there are no simple and immediate solutions that allow you to achieve this, since the shared use of the microphone between multiple apps is not yet allowed on Android, nor on iPhone and iPad (at least not in an “official” way).
However, I would like to point out that there are some applications that can change the voice on call, which I am going to tell you about later in this tutorial.
How to change the voice on Discord
With regard to Discord , the famous group communication platform, things are not so different from what we saw a little while ago: just any software capable of altering the tone of one’s voice, together with the appropriate setting of the audio options of the messaging system, to play a nice trick to your interlocutors.
From PC
If you use Discord from a computer , you can rely on both Voxal Voice Changer, the same program that I indicated in the chapter regarding Meet, and try an alternative solution, which could be Clownfish Voice Changer . The latter is a totally free program, but only available for Windows, which allows you to apply filters and distortions to your voice in a single click.
If you are interested in trying it, connected to its home page, click on the button that best suits the version of Windows you are using (eg Download 64bit (64bit VST) ) and wait for the program installation package to be downloaded to your computer.
When the download is complete, launch the file obtained and click on the Yes , Next (three consecutive times), Install , Next and Finish buttons to install it. To open the program, double-click on the icon that, in the meantime, has been created on the Desktop, or click on the item in the Start menu.
By default, Clownfish does not show any windows, as the program works automatically in the background; to control it, it is necessary to use its icon, resident near the Windows clock and depicting a pinwheel . If you don’t see it, click on the up arrow , visible on the right side of the Windows taskbar, to show hidden icons by default.
Initially, the Clownfish icon should be colored gray , a clear sign that the program does not apply any effect to the voice; when the software is active and the voice is distorted, however, the pinwheel becomes colored .
To be able to choose the effect to apply, right-click on the Clownfish icon, press the Set Voice Changer item located in the contextual menu displayed and use the next window to select the effect you like best. If you prefer, you can also apply background noise, using the Vocoder button .
Personally, in order to optimize the audio performance, I suggest you minimize the echo produced by the microphone, moving the adjustment bar under the Microphone sensitivity item all the way to the right and removing the check mark next to Append original voice .
When you are ready, first click on the Close button , in order to close the program settings window and then on the Clownfish pinwheel icon , so as to activate the vocal distortion (the icon becomes multicolored ).
To make sure that the distortion applied is also reproduced on Discord , make sure that, in the latter program, the default device is selected as the microphone. So, open the software in question, click on the gear icon located at the bottom left to display the settings panel, click on the Voice and video options (on the side) and make sure that, in correspondence with the Input device option , Default is set (otherwise you can do it).
From smartphones and tablets
Would you like to alter your voice on Discord for smartphones and tablets ? I am sorry to inform you that, at the moment, there is no app that allows you to achieve this. However, if you wish, you can always alter your voice during a “classic” phone call, using one of the applications I will tell you about in one of the following chapters of this guide.
How to change the voice on Fortnite
Would you like to play a little prank on your playmates and change the voice on Fortnite ? Again, everything is much simpler than you think!
From PC
To be able to alter the voice on Fortnite for computers, you can use the aforementioned Voxal Voice Changer and Clownfish Voice Changer, or rely on software such as Voicemod , particularly suitable for multiplayer games such as Valorant, PUBG , LoL and, of course, Fortnite .
The basic version of the program, which is available exclusively for 64-bit Windows , is free and includes 7 effects for the voice (which change every week); the Pro version, whose license is available in three different versions ( € 9/3 months , € 15 / year or € 29 in a single solution ), allows you to have up to 77 preset audio effects at the same time and to create new ones.
To download Voicemod, connected to its official website, click on the Get Voicemod button and, once the installation file has been downloaded, open it and click on the Yes button to start the setup. Now, choose Italian as the installation language, press the OK and Next buttons and put the check mark next to the item I accept the terms of the license agreement . Once this is done, press the Next (two consecutive times), Install and Finish buttons , in order to complete the installation of the program.
At the end of the setup, open Voicemod and choose whether to log in with a Discord, Apple, Google or Twitch account and, after this step, press the Let’s Go button and follow the small initial configuration tutorial that is proposed to you: select the microphone and the headphones / speakers you use by clicking on the respective names , press the Continue button and make sure that the lever next to the Voice Changer option is set to ON , otherwise you do it.
To choose an effect, click on the respective icon, present in the Voicebox tab ; if the audio performance is not optimal, click on the Settings tab and set the microphone volume to 1 or 2 , using the appropriate adjustment bar.
Now, all you have to do is open Fortnite and check that the program is set to use the default input device: therefore select the game mode you want to use, click on the ☰ button located at the top left and click on the symbol of the ‘ gear , in order to access the game options.
Finally, make sure that the voice Default is present in the Voice chat input device option and confirm any changes made by pressing the Apply button . The effects of Voicemod (or any other program you have chosen to use to distort the voice) will be applied automatically, both in PTT mode and in chat mode.
From smartphones and tablets
Unlike what we saw for PC, there is not much you can do to change the voice on Fortnite for smartphones and tablets : at the moment, in fact, there is no application that allows you to obtain such a result, I’m sorry.
How to change the voice on TikTok
Do you want to change the voice of a song on TikTok , replacing a media clip created by you with the original one? It is very easy: all you have to do is start playing the movie you intend to intervene on and press the button to record the lip sync in real time, or use an audio editor and record the edited voice outside TikTok, to then apply it to the movie using a dedicated app.

How to change the voice in call
The applications that allow you to change the voice in call via the smartphone are not many: in almost all cases, they work via the Internet and must be used in place of the classic smartphone dialer. Below I list the ones that, in my opinion, represent the best in the category.
- Funcalls (Android): is an application that allows you to alter the voice during a phone call. The app download is free and contains a demo aimed at testing the available effects but, in order to make phone calls, you need to purchase paid minutes (with prices starting from € 3.19 / 7 minutes ).
- Call Voice Changer – IntCall (iPhone): this is an app capable of applying effects and distortions to the voice during a phone call. It can be downloaded for free and tried for the first 2 minutes, but additional minutes must be purchased afterwards (prices starting at $ 4.99 / 15 minutes ).
If, on the other hand, you intend to initiate calls and video calls directly from your computer, in most cases, you can safely use one of the programs I told you about in the previous chapters of this guide (Voxal Voice Changer, Clownfish Voice Changer or Voicemod).
